Architectural Design IV
ARC(60508)

Module

In this module, we focuses on designing environmentally responsive and community-driven architecture through a series of progressive projects. Centered on the theme "Engaging Environment and Community," it emphasizes site-specific design, environmental poetics, and sustainable strategies by encouraging students to respond to natural elements like sun, wind, and topography, while also addressing the needs of a specific user community. Through site analysis, material exploration, and the design of a clustered spatial typology, students develop skills in creative problem-solving, community engagement, and holistic design thinking that integrates social, environmental, and spatial considerations.

Self Reflection

This module has been a transformative experience that deepened my understanding of how architecture can meaningfully respond to both environmental and community needs. Through site analysis, material exploration, and the design of a creative hub, I learned to integrate passive strategies, user experiences, and environmental poetics into my design process. The module encouraged me to think beyond function, embracing architecture as a tool for storytelling, memory-making, and fostering community connections. Overall, it helped me grow as a more empathetic, thoughtful, and contextually aware designer.
